Indian boxer Parveen Hooda produced a composed performance at the Asian Games 2026, defeating China’s Li Shu 5-0 in the women’s 65kg semifinal to book her place in the gold-medal bout.
The semifinal was held at Nishio Gymnasium on Tuesday. Hooda maintained control throughout the contest, using her movement and accurate punches to score consistently against her Chinese opponent. All five judges awarded the bout to the Indian boxer.
Hooda started carefully before increasing the pressure as the fight progressed. She used counter-punching opportunities effectively and continued to find openings against Li Shu. The judges ultimately made her a unanimous decision, with three scorecards reading 29-28 and two showing 30-27.
The victory guarantees Parveen Hooda at least a silver medal and puts her into the women’s 65kg gold-medal contest at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Parveen Hooda’s Road to the Final
Hooda had already secured her place in the medal rounds after defeating Uzbekistan’s Navbakhor Khamidova 5-0 in the quarterfinal. China’s Li Shu had reached the semifinal after defeating Kazakhstan’s Aida Abikeyeva.
With her latest victory, Hooda has now moved one step closer to an Asian Games gold medal.
Parveen Hooda to Face Chen Nien-chin in Final
Parveen Hooda will face Chen Nien-chin of Chinese Taipei in the women’s 65kg final. Chen also advanced after winning her semifinal and will now meet Hooda for the Asian Games title.
The final will give Hooda an opportunity to finish her 2026 Asian Games campaign with a gold medal after securing her place on the podium with the semifinal victory.
