Roorkee, September 18: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee is set to hold its Convocation 2026 on September 19 and 20, marking an important milestone for students completing their academic journey at the institute.
The two-day convocation ceremony will bring together graduating students, faculty members, institute officials, families and members of the IIT Roorkee community. According to the institute’s official website, the 2026 Convocation is scheduled for September 19-20.
More than 2,500 students are expected to receive their degrees across various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes during the convocation. The ceremony will also recognize academic achievements through several medals and awards.
IIT Roorkee has announced a range of convocation awards and medals for 2026, including the President Gold Medal, Director Gold Medal and other department-level medals. These awards recognize students for academic performance, all-round achievement and excellence in areas such as projects and social service.
For graduating students, the convocation marks the end of an important chapter and the beginning of a new phase, whether they move into higher education, research, entrepreneurship or professional careers.
IIT Roorkee, one of India’s prominent technical institutions, currently has 23 academic departments and nine academic centers, covering fields ranging from engineering and sciences to architecture, management and humanities.
The institute’s Convocation 2026 will therefore be more than a degree-awarding ceremony, as students and their families come together to celebrate years of academic work and achievement.
