iPhone Duo camera gets a foldable twist
Apple hasn’t simply put its existing camera system inside a folding phone. The company says the Duo’s design enables new ways of taking photos and videos.
The device comes with a 48MP Dual Fusion camera system, including a 48MP Fusion Main camera and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera. It also features a 12MP Center Stage front camera and an under-display FaceTime camera.

Both models are powered by the A20 Pro chip and feature Apple’s latest Pro camera system. The main camera has a 48MP Fusion sensor with variable aperture, giving users more control over how much light enters the lens.
Apple has also introduced new Pro camera controls and a smaller Dynamic Island. The company says the new thermal system and A20 Pro chip deliver the highest sustained performance in an iPhone so far.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max gets an additional battery-life boost, with Apple describing it as the biggest battery-life improvement ever seen on an iPhone.
iPhone Duo price and availability
The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 for the 256GB model, putting it firmly in the premium foldable-phone segment.
Apple will open pre-orders on October 16, with the device becoming available from October 23, 2026.
The Duo will be offered in Star White and Night Sky finishes.
What about the regular iPhone 18?
Interestingly, Apple did not announce the standard iPhone 18 at this September event.
The company instead focused its attention on the higher-end iPhone 18 Pro models and the new Duo. Reports indicate that the regular iPhone 18 could arrive at a later date, potentially alongside other non-Pro models.
Apple finally joins the foldable phone race
Apple is entering the foldable market much later than rivals such as Samsung and Huawei, but that may not necessarily be a disadvantage.
Instead of rushing a foldable phone to market, Apple appears to have focused on combining the hardware with iOS, Apple Intelligence and its wider ecosystem.
