Indian shooter Esha Singh delivered a strong performance at the Asian Games 2026, winning the silver medal in the women’s 25m pistol individual event in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
The 21-year-old shooter from Hyderabad produced a determined performance in a closely fought final. Esha qualified for the final in eighth position with a score of 580-22x and then fought her way into medal contention through a series of intense shoot-offs.
Esha Singh Finishes With Silver
The final proved to be a real test of composure. Esha survived several shoot-offs to remain in the medal race and eventually entered the gold-medal contest against China’s Xiao Jiaruixuan.
Both shooters finished the regulation stage with 38 hits, leading to another shoot-off to decide the gold medal. Xiao eventually prevailed, while Esha Singh secured the silver medal for India. North Korea’s Kim Hyon Suk took the bronze medal.
Esha’s silver adds another Asian Games medal to her growing international record. At the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, she had won gold in the women’s 25m pistol team event and silver in the individual competition.
A Strong Comeback for Esha
The silver medal was particularly significant after Esha had missed out on the podium in the women’s 10m air pistol event earlier in the competition. Her performance in the 25m pistol showed her ability to stay focused under pressure and fight back when the medal race became extremely close.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Esha Singh for winning the silver medal, praising her precision and composure during the competition.
With her latest performance, Esha Singh has once again added to India’s medal tally in shooting at the Asian Games 2026 and strengthened her position among India’s leading sport shooters.
